“Heart Opening” is a mural in the Fitchburg Public Library parking lot. Like the sweet bees emerging from their interlocking comb of community, this is a mural about the people that together make the heart of our town. In our town, I’ve fostered community art in ways like creating a band club at the school and engaging an art stewardship program. There I support artists in their creativity and teach them how to be stewards supporting the arts, too.

I’ve just learned so much just by being involved. There’s so many ways to plug in.
