I spent a year as a tavern wench in a Ren Fest, serving beer, singing songs, and having a good time. My friends worked at a face painting booth and said, you’ve got to come work for us! And what unfolded for me was not just dragons and unicorns, but it was a conversation on a deeper level with people, and their own relationship with themselves.
I realized it was really a gift to be able to give art to people that was really a reflection of them, rather than my own internal dialogue.
And that’s where it evolved into the full body canvas, which was incredible. People really let themselves be vulnerable. And it’s very ephemeral: you do it, you experience it, and then it fades. The experience stays with you, but then it’s gone.
